Telegram Temporarily Banned in India

The Central Government has imposed a temporary ban on the Telegram messaging app across India in view of the upcoming NEET-UG re-examination. The re-exam is scheduled to be held on June 21, and the restriction on Telegram will remain in force until June 22.

According to reports, the decision was taken as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of misinformation, alleged paper leaks, and unfair practices related to the examination. Authorities believe that messaging platforms can be misused to circulate unauthorized exam content and rumors, which may affect the fairness of the test.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting the re-examination for candidates affected by issues during the earlier exam process. To ensure transparency and maintain the integrity of the examination, the government has stepped up monitoring of online platforms and communication channels.

Officials stated that the restriction is temporary and aimed solely at safeguarding the examination process. Students have been advised to rely only on official announcements from the NTA and government sources for exam-related updates.

The move has sparked discussions among users, but authorities maintain that ensuring a fair and secure examination environment for lakhs of aspiring medical students remains the top priority
