Pradhan Resigns Over NEET Controversy

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned from the Union Cabinet, taking moral responsibility for the NEET paper leak controversy that triggered nationwide protests by students and several organisations.

In his resignation statement, Pradhan said he accepted responsibility for the controversy and decided to step down in the interest of maintaining public confidence in the country's examination system. He stated that protecting the future of students remains the government's highest priority and expressed hope that the ongoing reforms would strengthen transparency and accountability in competitive examinations.

The resignation comes after weeks of protests demanding action against those responsible for the alleged irregularities in the medical entrance examination. Student groups and the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) intensified their demonstrations across the country, calling for ministerial accountability and comprehensive reforms in the examination process.

The Central Government has already handed over the investigation into the alleged paper leak to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Authorities have also announced a series of measures, including tighter security protocols, stricter monitoring of examination centres, and reforms aimed at preventing future irregularities.
