‘Gold Man’ Arrested in Hyderabad
Attapur police in Hyderabad arrested a man known as "Gold Man" Surya for allegedly cheating people by promising to supply gold imported from abroad at prices significantly lower than the market rate. The accused is also alleged to have falsely claimed close links with the Chief Minister and the Hyderabad Police Commissioner to gain the confidence of potential victims.
According to police, Surya convinced several people that he could arrange discounted gold through his overseas contacts and used his purported political and official connections to make his claims appear credible. Victims who trusted his assurances allegedly lost substantial amounts of money after paying advances for the promised gold.
The arrest was made following complaints lodged by the victims. Police took the accused into custody and launched an investigation to identify the full extent of the fraud, including the number of victims and the amount of money involved.
Officials have urged the public to remain cautious and avoid falling prey to individuals making unrealistic promises of cheap gold or claiming influential connections to government officials. Police advised citizens to verify such claims before making any financial transactions and to immediately report suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
