Woman Survives Well After Robbery
A 55-year-old woman survived a horrifying ordeal after she was allegedly robbed and pushed into a well by an unidentified man who had promised her daily wage work in Telangana's Karimnagar district.
The victim, Gangadhara Lakshmi, a resident of Kisan Nagar in Thimmapur mandal, earns her livelihood through daily wage labour. As usual, her son Sandeep dropped her at a labour pickup point. An unidentified man reportedly approached her, offering work, and took her to the outskirts of Nustulapur village.
Around 11 a.m., the accused allegedly snatched her half-tola gold ornament and ₹4,000 in cash before pushing her into a well. When Lakshmi tried to climb out using a rope, the attacker allegedly cut it and fled.
Despite the attack, Lakshmi managed to stay alive by swimming inside the well and holding onto a motor pipeline for nearly 21 hours. When she failed to return home, her son filed a missing complaint with the police. Although police searched the area using her mobile phone location, they could not find her.
The next morning, a landowner heard her cries for help from the well. Villagers rescued her, and police registered a case based on her statement. A search is underway to trace the accused.
