High Court Upholds Bandla Property Auction
The Telangana High Court has ruled in favour of Union Bank of India in a case involving film producer Bandla Ganesh, upholding the auction of his property in Jubilee Hills over unpaid loan dues.
According to court proceedings, Bandla Ganesh had availed loans in the name of Sri Parameswara Poultry Farm Private Limited. After the loans reportedly remained unpaid, Union Bank auctioned his Jubilee Hills property for ₹8.50 crore to recover the outstanding amount.
Bandla Ganesh had earlier challenged the auction before the Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT), which ruled in his favour and questioned the bank's action. However, Union Bank of India challenged the DRT's decision before the Telangana High Court.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the High Court set aside the Debt Recovery Tribunal's order and upheld the bank's action. The court ruled that the auction conducted by Union Bank was legally valid and in accordance with the applicable recovery procedures.
The verdict is considered a significant relief for the bank and reinforces the legal framework governing the recovery of defaulted loans through the auction of secured assets. The judgment also marks a setback for Bandla Ganesh, whose challenge against the property auction has now been dismissed.
