Polavaram Mishap Claims Engineer's Life

A tragic accident occurred at Gap-2 of the Polavaram Project construction site, where a senior mechanical engineer lost his life and a dozer operator went missing during recovery operations.

According to officials, a proclain excavator had slipped into a canal while excavation work was underway four days ago. On Monday, workers began efforts to retrieve the submerged machine after dewatering the canal. During the operation, Senior Mechanical Engineer Ravikanth, a native of Narsipatnam, and Dozer Operator Nageswara Rao, a resident of Seethanagaram in East Godavari district, were swept into the water.

Reports said Nageswara Rao accidentally slipped into the canal, and Ravikanth entered the water in an attempt to rescue him. Both were carried away by the strong current.

Project officials, rescue teams, and local residents immediately launched a search operation. After several hours of intensive efforts, Ravikanth's body was recovered, while the search for Nageswara Rao continues.

The incident has cast a shadow over the Polavaram project site, with authorities investigating the circumstances that led to the accident. Officials have assured that all necessary measures are being taken to locate the missing operator and review safety protocols at the construction site.
