Suspended IPS Officer Sunil Kumar Retires
Suspended IPS officer P.V. Sunil Kumar is scheduled to retire from service on Tuesday after completing his tenure. Ahead of his retirement, the Andhra Pradesh government issued orders directing the Director General of Police (DGP) to formally relieve him from service while ensuring that the ongoing disciplinary and criminal proceedings against him continue without interruption.
According to the government order, Sunil Kumar's retirement will not affect the investigations or departmental inquiries already initiated against him. The state government clarified that all disciplinary proceedings and criminal cases, if any, will continue in accordance with the applicable service rules and legal provisions even after his retirement.
The orders were issued to ensure there are no administrative or legal hurdles in the continuation of the ongoing inquiries. Officials stated that relieving the officer from service is a procedural step linked to his retirement and should not be interpreted as a closure of the cases pending against him.
The development comes amid continued scrutiny over the allegations that led to his suspension. With the government's latest directive, the authorities are expected to pursue all pending investigations and departmental proceedings independently of his retirement status. Further action in the cases will depend on the outcome of the ongoing inquiries and the evidence gathered by the investigating agencies.
