Godavari Floodwaters Rise At Kaleshwaram

The Godavari River is in spate near Kaleshwaram following heavy rainfall in the upstream regions, resulting in a massive inflow into the Godavari and Pranahita rivers. Authorities are closely monitoring the flood situation as water levels continue to rise.

At the Triveni Sangamam, where the Godavari and Pranahita rivers converge, the water level has reached 11 metres. Officials said the first flood warning will be issued if the level touches 12.210 metres, prompting heightened vigilance in low-lying areas.

Heavy floodwater is also passing through the Medigadda Barrage, with both inflow and outflow recorded at 5.66 lakh cusecs. Engineers are continuously monitoring the barrage and regulating water discharge to ensure structural safety and prevent flooding downstream.

District authorities have advised residents living along the riverbanks to remain alert and follow official instructions. Disaster management teams have also been kept on standby as heavy rainfall is expected to continue in the upstream catchment areas.

Officials said the situation is under constant surveillance, and necessary precautionary measures are being taken to safeguard lives and property in vulnerable areas.
