Gill Century Powers India To Series Win

India sealed the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan with a commanding 170-run victory in the second match at Lucknow. Led by captain Shubman Gill, the hosts took an unassailable 2-0 lead with one game remaining.

After an early setback at 9 for 1, Gill and Ishan Kishan transformed the innings with a breathtaking partnership. Gill scored a magnificent 154 off 110 balls, while Kishan blasted 125 from just 79 deliveries. Their century stand helped India post a massive total of 402 runs.

Chasing 403, Afghanistan struggled to keep pace with the required run rate. Despite a fighting 79 from Rahmat Shah, the visitors failed to build meaningful partnerships as Indian bowlers maintained control throughout the innings.

Afghanistan were eventually bowled out for 232 in 45 overs, handing India a comfortable win. Spinner Nangeyalia Kharote was the standout performer for Afghanistan, claiming four wickets despite the defeat.

The victory marked Gill’s first ODI series triumph as India’s captain and highlighted the team’s batting strength and bowling discipline. India will now aim for a clean sweep in the third and final ODI in Chennai, while Afghanistan look to end the series on a positive note.
