Gujarat Rains Trigger Widespread Flooding

Torrential rains have severely disrupted normal life across parts of Gujarat, with several districts witnessing widespread flooding and waterlogging.

According to official reports, Umbergaon in Valsad district recorded an exceptional 1,100 mm of rainfall within just 16 hours, while several other areas in the district received more than 600 mm of rain. The intense downpour inundated roads, residential colonies, and commercial areas, bringing daily activities to a standstill.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Surat, Navsari, Dang, Tapi, and Valsad districts, warning of continued heavy to extremely heavy rainfall. Authorities have urged residents in vulnerable areas to remain indoors and follow official advisories.

In Vapi and surrounding regions, hundreds of vehicles and houses were submerged as floodwaters entered low-lying areas. Emergency teams have been deployed to monitor the situation, assist affected residents, and respond to any rescue requirements.

Officials are closely monitoring river levels and weather conditions as heavy rainfall is expected to continue. Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and stay updated through official weather and disaster management alerts.
