Delhi Closes Sixteen Metro Stations
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has temporarily closed 16 metro stations across the national capital following security measures taken in view of protests by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP).
According to officials, the stations were closed from 7:30 a.m. as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety and maintain law and order. Security has also been tightened in several sensitive areas of the city, with additional police personnel deployed.
The affected stations include Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhamba Road, Supreme Court, Seva Teerth, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh, and Shivaji Stadium.
The temporary closure has disrupted the daily commute of thousands of passengers, with many forced to seek alternative modes of transportation. Authorities have advised commuters to check official metro service updates before planning their travel.
Police said the restrictions were imposed as a preventive measure in response to the planned demonstrations. Officials will review the security situation and decide when to reopen the stations once normalcy is restored.
