Drunk Man Steals RTC Bus
A man allegedly stole an APSRTC rental bus from the Jangaon bus stand and drove it for nearly 21 kilometres before crashing it into a cement barrier. The incident created panic and prompted swift police action.
According to police, the accused, identified as Venkanna from Palakurthi, was reportedly under the influence of alcohol when he started the parked RTC rental bus and drove it towards Suryapet. The bus continued for about 21 kilometres before reaching the Singarajupalli toll gate.
At the toll gate, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash into a cement divider. The impact brought the bus to a halt, preventing further movement. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.
Police immediately reached the spot, took the accused into custody, and seized the bus. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to determine how the accused managed to access and drive the parked vehicle.
Officials are also examining security arrangements at the bus stand to prevent similar incidents in the future. The unusual bus theft has drawn attention due to the distance the vehicle was driven before the accident.
