COVID Cases Rise in Kadapa

Fresh concerns over COVID-19 have emerged in Andhra Pradesh's Kadapa district after six positive cases were reported and two deaths linked to suspected infection prompted heightened surveillance by health authorities. The deceased, one from Kadapa city and another from Rajampet, had reportedly shown COVID-like symptoms while undergoing treatment.

District officials clarified that both patients had serious underlying health conditions. One was suffering from respiratory illness, while the other was diagnosed with lung cancer. In-charge District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) Dr. K. Raviprakash said two of the six COVID-positive patients are currently undergoing treatment, while two have recovered and been discharged.

Health teams have intensified monitoring in Kadapa and Rajampet through door-to-door surveys to identify people with fever, cough and respiratory symptoms. Samples collected from the deceased have been sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune, to determine the exact cause of death and rule out the possibility of any new variant.

Kadapa RIMS has strengthened its preparedness by keeping oxygen support systems and ventilators ready. Meanwhile, YSRCP leaders Ramesh Yadav and Dr. Sudha demanded greater transparency in reporting COVID cases and urged the government to strengthen healthcare facilities, including filling vacant doctor posts. Authorities have advised people to remain vigilant while avoiding unnecessary panic.
