AP Launches Massive Faculty Hiring to Boost Higher Education
The Andhra Pradesh government has launched a major recruitment drive to fill 1,523 teaching faculty posts in State Public Universities under its Job Calendar initiative. The vacancies include Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, Assistant Librarians and Lecturers across 18 universities and Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies.
Officials said 1,244 posts are regular vacancies, while 279 are backlog positions reserved for SC, ST and BC candidates. The move aims to address severe faculty shortages, as only 972 posts are currently filled against a sanctioned strength of 4,343.
The recruitment drive is expected to improve academic standards, research output and institutional rankings under NAAC and NIRF frameworks while benefiting lakhs of students across the state. Authorities described it as the largest faculty recruitment phase undertaken in recent years to strengthen higher education infrastructure.
