Alleged Attack on Former MLA Sparks Tensions

Narsipatnam: An alleged attack on former MLA Umashankar Ganesh has triggered political tensions, raising serious concerns over law and order and the possible misuse of power in the region.

The incident reportedly occurred when the former legislator visited the Srushti Kshetram area to question ongoing construction despite a High Court stay order. The project, involving development near a large water body, has remained controversial, with allegations that nearly 50 acres of valuable land are being targeted under the guise of religious activity.

According to reports, Ganesh had earlier secured a court stay on the project. However, construction allegedly resumed during late hours, prompting his visit to the site. When he questioned those present about violating the court directive, tensions quickly escalated.

A group at the location allegedly confronted him and resorted to stone-pelting, damaging his vehicle. The incident forced him to leave, raising alarm over the audacity of such an act in public view.

Political reactions have intensified, with allegations linking supporters of Ayyanna Patrudu to the episode, though no official confirmation has emerged. Meanwhile, YSRCP leaders have filed a police complaint demanding a thorough investigation and strict action against those involved.

The episode has sparked wider debate on governance, accountability, and adherence to legal processes.
