Two Arrested in Nalgonda NTR Statue Burning Case
Police have arrested two accused in connection with the burning of the NTR statue in Nalgonda and registered cases under the Preventive Detention (PD) Act. The arrested individuals include Graduate MLC independent candidate Palakuri Ashok Kumar Goud and another accused, Elukanti Praneeth.
The incident took place in the early hours of June 6 in Nalgonda, where unidentified persons allegedly covered the NTR statue with bedsheets, poured petrol on it, and set it on fire. The act caused tension among locals and prompted police to launch a detailed investigation.
As part of the probe, police examined CCTV footage from the surrounding areas and identified that the accused allegedly arrived at the spot in a Baleno car bearing registration number TS 07 HT 2430 before carrying out the incident.
Based on CCTV evidence and technical investigation, police traced and arrested the accused. Officials said the case was registered under relevant sections and further investigation is underway.
Police stated that strict action will be taken against individuals involved in activities that disturb public peace and damage public property. The incident has drawn attention due to the political background of one of the accused.
