Survey Sensation in Four States..
Amid the ongoing buzz of Assembly elections in India, polling is set to take place this April in four states and one Union Territory. In the south, elections will be held in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and the Union Territory of Puducherry, while in eastern India, key states like West Bengal and Assam will go to the polls. As nomination processes and campaign activities intensify, political discussions about who will come to power in each state have gained momentum. While Puducherry remains relatively less in focus, there is heightened curiosity and suspense over the outcomes in the other four states.
To gauge voter sentiment, several organizations have conducted pre-election surveys. Among them, Hyderabad-based Atmasakshi, in collaboration with prominent IIT professionals, carried out an extensive ground-level survey by directly interacting with thousands of voters rather than relying on phone or social media inputs. As per the survey findings as of March 31, voters in all four states appear inclined toward the incumbent governments.
In West Bengal, people seem to favor Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress once again, potentially securing a fourth consecutive term. In Tamil Nadu, although the ruling DMK holds an edge, the newly formed TVK party led by actor Vijay could play a crucial role by splitting votes or emerging as a kingmaker. In Kerala, the contest between the ruling Left Front and the opposition UDF is extremely tight, with just a 1% difference in vote share. Meanwhile, in Assam, the BJP-led NDA under Himanta Biswa Sarma is expected to retain power, supported by welfare schemes and governance factors.
Overall, the survey suggests limited gains for national parties like BJP and Congress at a broader level, with regional dynamics playing a decisive role in these elections. However, as polling day approaches, shifting voter sentiments could still influence the final outcome.
