Sai Krishna Case Triggers Political Storm

The disappearance and suspected custodial death of Sai Krishna, a history-sheeter from Vijayawada, has sparked a major political and legal controversy in Andhra Pradesh. Initially reported as a missing person case, the matter gained prominence after his family alleged that he had been detained by the Krishnalanka police, a claim denied by authorities.

The case took a crucial turn when the family approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court through a habeas corpus petition. The court directed police to produce Sai Krishna, but after they failed to do so, the deadline was extended to June 29.

The controversy intensified after YSRCP leader Ambati Rambabu released photographs and videos alleging that Sai Krishna died in police custody and that attempts were made to conceal the incident. The allegations triggered widespread public and political debate.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the case with senior officials, while Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan also participated. Following the review, Krishnalanka Circle Inspector Nagaraju was suspended and the government ordered an inquiry by a senior IPS officer.

With opposition parties, legal groups, and civil society demanding accountability, the case has become a significant test for law enforcement and governance in Andhra Pradesh. Investigations are continuing under close public and judicial scrutiny.
