Royal Enfield Roars Into Andhra
Royal Enfield is set to establish its first manufacturing unit outside Tamil Nadu, choosing Andhra Pradesh for a massive new plant. The company plans to invest nearly ₹2,200 crore in two phases at Satyavedu in Tirupati district, marking a major boost for Andhra Pradesh’s industrial ambitions.
The project is expected to add annual production capacity of around 9 lakh units and generate nearly 5,000 direct and indirect jobs. Along with the plant, the company is also planning a large vendor ecosystem, which could attract several auto component manufacturers to the region.
Industry experts say the move reflects Andhra Pradesh’s growing reputation for faster clearances, infrastructure development, and investor-friendly policies under the leadership of Nara Lokesh. The decision has also sparked debate in Tamil Nadu, long considered India’s automobile manufacturing hub.
After Kia Motors transformed Anantapur into a global auto destination, the Royal Enfield project is now expected to strengthen South Andhra Pradesh’s emergence as a major automobile and manufacturing corridor in the count.
