Penumaka Farmers Demand Justice

Farmers from Penumaka village in the Amaravati capital region held a press conference on Sunday, raising serious concerns over the ongoing land acquisition process and alleging that officials were not following the prescribed legal procedures. The farmers said the issue gained attention after clashes reportedly occurred during a programme organised by the YSRCP-backed CRDA Farmers Protection Committee on Saturday.

They alleged that authorities had initiated land acquisition without providing compensation to affected landowners and claimed they were being subjected to intimidation and pressure. According to the farmers, they have already approached the court seeking justice and a fair resolution to the dispute.

The farmers questioned why the district administration, particularly the District Collector, had not responded to their grievances despite repeated appeals. They also alleged that while CRDA officials claimed they were unaware of certain aspects of the process, notices were being issued by the Collector's office, creating confusion over accountability.

Demanding transparency, the farmers urged the government to ensure that all legal procedures are followed before acquiring any land. They called on the authorities to address their concerns, provide fair compensation, and engage in meaningful discussions with affected families. The farmers reiterated that they would continue their legal and democratic fight until justice is delivered and their rights are protected.
