Lokesh Launches Industry-Integrated Sri City University
Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education, IT, Electronics & Communications and Real Time Governance Nara Lokesh on Thursday launched Sri City International University (SIU), introducing an industry-led work-study model aimed at preparing students for careers in the AI-driven economy.
The university has been designed to bridge the gap between higher education and industry by allowing companies to play a direct role in curriculum design, practical training and skill development. Speaking at the launch, Lokesh said universities must adapt quickly to emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, advanced manufacturing and digital innovation to keep graduates industry-ready.
Under SIU's unique Work-Study Dual Model, students will spend one-third of their academic time in classrooms and the remaining period gaining practical experience with industry partners. Paid internships will begin in the first year, offering a minimum monthly stipend of ₹10,000, enabling students to graduate with over two years of work experience.
The university will leverage Sri City's industrial ecosystem, which hosts more than 200 companies from over 30 countries, providing students with hands-on exposure across multiple sectors. SIU has also launched Station-S, an incubation centre supporting startups and entrepreneurship. Admissions for the 2026-27 academic year will begin with programmes in engineering, finance, advanced manufacturing and digital media.
