Influencer Held Over Kapur Posts
Indian Army doctor-turned-social media influencer Dr Neelam Singh was arrested by Delhi Police over social media posts linked to late industrialist Sunjay Kapur and an ongoing family property dispute. Singh, popularly known online as “The Skin Doctor,” had reportedly shared posts questioning the circumstances surrounding Kapur’s death and commenting on inheritance-related matters involving the Kapur family.
According to police sources, the complaint was lodged at Vasant Kunj Police Station on behalf of the Kapur family. Following the complaint, police registered a case under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to defamation and other offences, along with provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000. Authorities then detained Singh for questioning and formally arrested him on Wednesday.
The case quickly drew attention on social media, where users debated freedom of expression, online accountability, and the growing legal scrutiny of digital content creators. Later the same night, a Delhi court granted bail to Singh after hearing the matter.
Police officials have not disclosed further details regarding the investigation, while the influencer has not yet issued a detailed public statement on the allegations or the posts that triggered the complaint.
