HC Adjourns Sai Krishna Case
The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Wednesday adjourned to July 6 the hearing on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking a CBI probe into the alleged custodial death and disappearance of 25-year-old Gade Sai Krishna. During the hearing, the state government informed the court that the prime accused, suspended Circle Inspector SSVV Nagaraju, had been arrested.
Advocate General Dammalapati Srinivas told the division bench that a Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by IG (Law and Order) M. Ravi Prakash, was actively investigating the case. Nagaraju, who served as Station House Officer of Krishnalanka Police Station, was taken into custody and later remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.
Sai Krishna’s mother alleged that her son was illegally detained, tortured, and denied legal procedures after being picked up in early May. Preliminary SIT findings indicate that he may have died in custody between May 6 and May 8, with investigators suspecting that his body was disposed of and evidence destroyed.
The probe gained momentum after the victim’s family met Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, prompting the formation of the SIT. Missing CCTV footage from the police station’s DVR system has further intensified suspicions of a cover-up. The SIT continues efforts to locate Sai Krishna’s body and uncover the full extent of the alleged crime.
