Governor Praises West Bengal Heritage
Vijayawada, June 20: Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer attended the West Bengal Formation Day celebrations as the Chief Guest at Durbar Hall in Lok Bhavan on Saturday. The event was organized under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ programme to promote national integration and cultural harmony.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor praised West Bengal for its rich cultural heritage, historical significance, and contributions to nation-building. He described the state as a vibrant center of arts and culture and noted that Kolkata is widely recognized as the cultural capital of India.
Governor Abdul Nazeer highlighted the vital role played by the people of Bengal in India’s freedom struggle and acknowledged the contributions of several distinguished leaders from the state. He also pointed out that India’s National Flag was first hoisted in Calcutta and that both the National Anthem and National Song originated in West Bengal.
The Governor further spoke about the state’s famous tourist destinations, including Darjeeling, Sagar Island, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Sundarbans.
The programme featured a video message from R. N. Ravi, cultural performances, poetry recitals, and a tabla presentation. Students from West Bengal studying in Andhra Pradesh, Lok Bhavan officials, and staff members participated in the celebrations.
