Centre Launches PMVBRY To Boost Employment

The Government of India has launched the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY), a major employment generation initiative aimed at creating jobs, improving employability, and expanding social security coverage across sectors, with special emphasis on manufacturing.

Under the scheme, first-time employees registered with EPFO and earning up to ₹1 lakh per month will receive an incentive equal to one month’s wage, up to ₹15,000, through Direct Benefit Transfer in two instalments. Employers creating additional jobs will also receive incentives for up to two years, while manufacturing units will be eligible for support for up to four years.

The scheme is expected to generate more than 3.5 crore jobs nationwide, including 1.92 crore first-time entrants into the formal workforce. The government has allocated ₹99,446 crore for the programme, covering jobs created between August 1, 2025, and July 31, 2027.

A national event will be held at Vigyan Bhawan on June 19 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where ₹2,400 crore will be disbursed. Simultaneously, regional events will be conducted at around 200 locations, including a programme at Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education in Vijayawada, bringing together officials, employers, employees, and EPFO representatives.
