Balakrishna Plans Cancer Hospital

Nandamuri Balakrishna has announced plans to establish a new cancer hospital in Amaravati while expanding healthcare services in Hyderabad. Speaking at the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Institute, he said the institution was founded to ensure that no patient is denied treatment due to financial constraints.

Balakrishna recalled the inspiration behind the hospital, saying his mother, Basavatarakam Nandamuri, often worried about how poor families could cope with cancer treatment. He noted that the hospital now performs 35 to 40 surgeries daily and has served around 3.75 lakh outpatients.

The event was attended by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, and several Union and state ministers. Balakrishna said the institution’s 25-year journey reflects its commitment to affordable and accessible cancer care.
