AP Eyes Steel Manufacturing Hub
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday said the state is set to become India’s next steel manufacturing hub with major investments from JSW Steel, ArcelorMittal and the revival of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. He described the launch of the JSW Rayalaseema Steel Plant at Sunnapurallapalle in YSR Kadapa district as a milestone in the region’s industrial development.
Naidu inaugurated construction of the steel plant in the presence of JSW Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal and Union Minister Srinivasa Varma. He also launched the JSW Neo Energy Solar Captive Power Project and virtually inaugurated the JSW Industrial Park in Vizianagaram district.
The steel plant will be developed in two phases with an investment of ₹16,350 crore and an annual production capacity of 2 million tonnes. Along with the renewable energy project, it is expected to create 2,700 direct jobs. JSW Neo Energy will invest ₹20,350 crore in a 3,850 MW solar and wind project, while the Vizianagaram industrial park will be developed with an investment of ₹531 crore.
Naidu said Rayalaseema is emerging as a hub for green energy, manufacturing and advanced industries. Sajjan Jindal announced that JSW plans to invest nearly ₹50,000 crore across Andhra Pradesh, creating around 50,000 jobs.
