Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft set to Boost AP
Rajnath Singh and N. Chandrababu Naidu will lay the foundation stone for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) facility at Puttaparthi on May 15. Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation and Aeronautical Development Agency, the ₹15,803-crore project will support India’s fifth-generation fighter aircraft programme.
Spread across 650 acres, the facility will focus on aircraft integration, flight testing and certification, strengthening indigenous aerospace and defence capabilities. The project is expected to create around 7,500 skilled jobs and boost the aerospace ecosystem in Rayalaseema.
The event will also mark the launch of 12 additional defence and aerospace projects, including ventures by Premier Explosives Limited and Agneyastra Energetics Limited. Andhra Pradesh is rapidly emerging as a defence manufacturing hub under its Aerospace and Defence Policy 2025–30, with major investments planned across aerospace, drones, missiles and precision manufacturing sectors.
