Youth Escapes Train Track Tragedy
A major tragedy was averted near Tuni railway station in Kakinada district after a youth allegedly attempted to end his life by lying on the railway tracks. The incident triggered panic among railway staff and passengers, but timely intervention prevented a fatal accident.
According to railway officials, outpost personnel noticed the youth lying on the tracks moments before an approaching train was due to pass. They immediately alerted the loco pilot, who responded swiftly by reducing the train's speed. At the same time, personnel from the Railway Protection Force coordinated with local staff to prevent the situation from escalating.
Local residents who witnessed the incident also acted quickly by shouting loudly and throwing stones near the youth to grab his attention. Startled by the commotion and the approaching train, the youth moved away from the tracks just in time, narrowly escaping death.
Railway staff and passengers breathed a sigh of relief after the youth was brought to safety. Authorities later took him into their care and are expected to counsel him and investigate the circumstances that led to the incident.
The prompt response of the railway staff, the loco pilot, and local residents played a crucial role in saving the young man's life and preventing a major railway tragedy.
