Vijay Alleges Police Drama
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay on Wednesday alleged that the police "staged a drama" during the tragic stampede at a TVK public meeting held during the election campaign, calling it one of the most painful incidents of his life.
Addressing a gathering in Karur, Vijay handed over government job appointment letters to 32 family members of those who lost their lives in the stampede. He expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and said the incident had left a lasting emotional impact on him.
"The incident caused me immense pain. It is one of the most heartbreaking moments of my life. The police staged a drama that day, and they were under tremendous pressure," Vijay said while addressing the public meeting.
The Chief Minister also launched a sharp attack on the ruling DMK, accusing the party of misgoverning the state and alleging that it had "looted" Tamil Nadu.
The stampede, which occurred during a TVK election campaign event, had sparked widespread criticism and demands for accountability. Vijay's latest remarks are expected to intensify the political confrontation between the TVK and the DMK ahead of future electoral battles.
His visit to Karur combined both a welfare initiative for the victims' families and a strong political message directed at the state government.
