VBG Mission Launched in Andhra Pradesh
The Government of India officially launched the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar Ajeevika Mission (VBG Ram G) from Railway Koduru in Andhra Pradesh's Tirupati district, marking the nationwide rollout of the flagship rural development programme. The launch was attended by Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
Chief Minister Naidu announced that the mission would be implemented with ₹7,700 crore from the Centre and ₹4,000 crore from the State, creating an investment of over ₹11,000 crore. The scheme guarantees 125 days of employment while supporting the construction of rural roads, drainage systems, canals, and other public infrastructure through transparent digital monitoring.
Naidu highlighted Andhra Pradesh's achievements in rural employment and outlined ambitious infrastructure and horticulture targets for the current year. He also thanked the Centre for supporting key development projects and investments across the State.
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the Centre had allocated ₹7.5 lakh crore for the mission nationwide and confirmed ₹7,700 crore for Andhra Pradesh during the current financial period. He also handed over sanction letters for 74,212 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, road development funds, and announced procurement of Totapuri mangoes under the Market Intervention Scheme, benefiting farmers.
