TDP Removes Varma From Pithapuram In-Charge Post
Unexpected political developments have taken place in the Pithapuram constituency, one of the most politically significant seats in Andhra Pradesh. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leadership has removed former MLA SVSN Varma from the post of constituency in-charge after a series of controversies involving TDP and Jana Sena leaders. Since the constituency is represented by Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, the developments have gained statewide attention.
Political circles believe the decision was taken to maintain coordination within the ruling alliance and prevent further conflicts between coalition partners. Recent clashes between supporters of Varma and Jana Sena leader Pendem Dorababu over flex banners at the Pithapuram Area Development Authority office reportedly became a major embarrassment for the alliance government.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is said to have expressed serious displeasure over public disputes among alliance leaders. Following this, the TDP leadership decided to dissolve the existing constituency in-charge system and form a special committee to oversee party affairs in Pithapuram.
The proposed committee will coordinate with Jana Sena leaders, monitor party activities, and support local workers under the direct supervision of the party high command. Although Varma’s removal disappointed some supporters, the party clarified that discipline remains its top priority. TDP has already appointed Varma as a state vice-president, indicating that the leadership intends to utilize his services at the state level rather than in constituency politics.
