SIT Grills Suspended CI Nagaraju

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Tuesday completed its interrogation of suspended Krishnalanka CI Nagaraju in connection with the Gade Saikrishna case. Officials questioned him for nearly eight hours over several crucial aspects of the investigation. Following the inquiry, Nagaraju was shifted to a government hospital for medical examination and is expected to be produced before a court thereafter.

Sources said senior officers, including an IG-rank official, personally questioned Nagaraju on key issues. Investigators sought explanations on why Saikrishna was brought from Markapuram to Vijayawada and why he was allegedly not produced before a court. The SIT also examined allegations that Saikrishna was kept at the police station under the pretext of a non-bailable warrant.

Another major focus of the probe was the deletion of CCTV footage from the police station. Officials reportedly questioned Nagaraju about the missing recordings and whether any attempt was made to conceal evidence. The SIT is also investigating whether third-degree methods were used on Saikrishna and if his death was linked to events inside the police lockup.

According to sources, Nagaraju was unable to provide clear answers to several crucial questions, prompting investigators to continue examining the circumstances surrounding the case.
