PM-VBRY Benefits Extended in AP
A special regional programme under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) was held at Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education in Vijayawada on Friday as part of the nationwide rollout of the employment-linked incentive scheme. The initiative aims to promote formal employment and support first-time job seekers across the country.
The event coincided with the national programme at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi disbursed incentives worth ₹2,400 crore to more than 15 lakh beneficiaries nationwide. Similar programmes were organized at 200 locations across India, including seven venues in Andhra Pradesh.
Andhra Pradesh MLA Bode Prasad attended the Vijayawada event as chief guest. Around 550 participants, including employees, employers, industry representatives, public representatives, and EPFO officials, took part in the programme.
A major highlight was the distribution of 30 appointment letters to newly recruited employees, reflecting the scheme’s focus on job creation and workforce formalization. Employers said the incentives encouraged them to expand hiring, while beneficiaries welcomed the financial support.
Officials stated that 24,255 employees in Andhra Pradesh have received benefits worth ₹11.67 crore under Part-A of the scheme, while 1,395 employers received ₹31.54 crore under Part-B. Addressing beneficiaries virtually, Modi emphasized the role of youth, innovation, and skill development in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
