Pawan Kalyan Pushes Greening Mission

Deputy Chief Minister and Forest & Environment Minister Pawan Kalyan has directed officials to speed up the establishment of the proposed ‘Greening Society’ with the goal of increasing Andhra Pradesh’s green cover to 50 percent. Chairing a review meeting with senior Forest Department officials at the Velagapudi Secretariat, he instructed that all procedures related to the society’s formation be completed by July 3 and in accordance with the Presidential Order of 2025.

Pawan Kalyan emphasized strengthening environmental initiatives at the grassroots level by ensuring that every Gram Panchayat has a nursery. In areas where this is not possible, he suggested creating clusters of three to four panchayats to jointly maintain nurseries. He also directed officials to integrate nursery development with Central Government schemes and effectively utilize available funds and employment opportunities.

Forest officials informed him that 2.6 crore seed balls have been prepared for dispersal during the monsoon season. Around 40 to 50 drones will be deployed to scatter seeds in forest and hilly regions. Pawan Kalyan said the programme should become a people’s movement with active participation from students, youth, voluntary organizations, and local communities.

He also appreciated efforts to conserve rare species, including the newly identified bamboo species Bambusa andhricum and the critically endangered Cycas seshachalensis, stressing that environmental protection is a shared responsibility.
