Pawan Kalyan Gets Court Relief
A Bengaluru court has granted interim relief to Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan in a defamation case linked to alleged land encroachment claims circulated on social media.
The court directed major social media platforms, including X, Google and Meta Platforms, to remove or disable access to posts, videos and other content that allegedly contained defamatory allegations against the Jana Sena Party chief.
The case involves claims related to the Kodi Cheruvu land dispute in Ranga Reddy district. Allegations had surfaced on social media between late May and early June, claiming that Pawan Kalyan had illegally occupied land and manipulated land records. He approached the court, arguing that the claims were false and had harmed his public image.
While hearing the petition, the court issued a “John Doe” order, allowing legal action against unknown individuals or accounts responsible for spreading similar content. The order applies not only to identified URLs but also to related posts from unidentified sources.
The interim relief will continue until further hearings, with the next hearing scheduled for July 24. The court’s decision provides temporary protection to Pawan Kalyan while the defamation proceedings continue.
