Naidu Launches Yoga Andhra Campaign

Amaravati, June 3: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced the “Yoga Andhra 2026” campaign, scheduled from June 7 to June 20, aiming to engage one crore people across the state as part of the 12th International Day of Yoga celebrations.

Addressing the media in Amaravati, he said yoga should become a daily habit in every household and evolve into a mass movement for public health. A major event will be held in Amaravati, where 25,000 participants will perform yoga on the Krishna River West bypass bridge.

Naidu highlighted the success of the previous year’s programme in Visakhapatnam, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which earned two Guinness World Records, 21 World Book of Records recognitions, and a Skoch award. He noted that 2.44 crore people registered in 2025, with 1.91 crore receiving certificates.

The Chief Minister said yoga will be integrated into schools and colleges to promote a healthier future generation. District-wise themes will be introduced, along with special sessions for police personnel in NTR district and farmers in Konaseema. Events will also be held at 56 tourist locations, including Undavalli Caves and Srisailam.

The government has allocated ₹10 crore for the initiative and plans to train 10 lakh certified yoga practitioners and expand a network of 2.5 lakh instructors. The programme is supported by multiple spiritual and wellness organisations across India.
