Naidu Launches JSW Steel Plant Project
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will launch the construction of the JSW Rayalaseema Integrated Steel Plant in YSR Kadapa district, marking a significant step in Andhra Pradesh's industrial growth. The project, located at Sunnapurallapalli and Peddadanluru villages, is expected to boost manufacturing, attract investment, and create large-scale employment opportunities across Rayalaseema.
The steel plant, being developed by JSW Andhra Pradesh Steel Limited, will be built in two phases over 1,100 acres with a total investment of ₹16,350 crore. The first phase will involve ₹4,500 crore, followed by a second phase worth ₹11,850 crore, increasing production capacity to 2 million tonnes per annum. Commercial production is expected to begin by March 2028.
The State Government revived the long-pending project after resolving key issues and coordinating with the company following the formation of the NDA government in 2024. Supporting infrastructure, including water supply, road connectivity to National Highway-67, and a 12-kilometre railway line linking the plant to Muddanuru Railway Station, is also under development.
The plant will use renewable energy-powered Electric Arc Furnace technology to produce green steel with lower carbon emissions. The project is expected to generate thousands of jobs, promote ancillary industries, and strengthen Andhra Pradesh's position as a leading steel manufacturing hub.
