Naidu Advocates National River Linking
N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday called for a nationwide river-linking project, saying major rivers such as the Ganga River, Godavari River, Cauvery River, and Mahanadi River should be interconnected on the lines of the Golden Quadrilateral highway project to ensure long-term water security.
Addressing an interactive meeting with farmers in Kuppam, Naidu said water security and tourism development are progressing simultaneously in the constituency. He noted that Handri-Neeva waters have already reached Kangundi and that efforts are underway to bring water from Srisailam Dam to Kalyani Dam.
The Chief Minister also announced agreements between the Kuppam Area Development Authority and ITC Limited to help farmers market fruits and vegetables in major cities. Another partnership with Visalakshi Innovations Sustainable Value Chain will promote modern farming and value addition.
Naidu said ITC plans to cultivate and export 10,000 tonnes of tomatoes through controlled farming across 1,000 acres with an investment of ₹8 crore. He also highlighted investments in food processing, horticulture, and natural farming to boost farmers' incomes and rural development.
