Mother Seeks Justice
A decade-old case involving the death of a minor girl has resurfaced in Vijayawada, with the victim's mother continuing her legal battle for justice. She alleged that her 14-year-old daughter was murdered under the guise of a love affair and claimed that the investigation was deliberately manipulated to protect the accused.
The mother accused officials of falsely recording her daughter's age as 30 instead of 14 at the time of her death. She also alleged that the authorities did not hand over her daughter's body to the family, causing them immense emotional distress. According to her, years of persistent legal efforts ultimately led to the case being reclassified under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
She further alleged that the then One Town Circle Inspector, Kashi Viswanatham, played a key role in mishandling the case and acted in collusion with the accused, resulting in grave injustice to her family. The mother demanded a fresh and impartial investigation into the role of the One Town police officials involved in the original probe and urged the government to take strict action against those found responsible.
The allegations have drawn renewed public attention in Vijayawada. However, an official response from the police regarding these claims is still awaited.
