Modi Begins Seychelles Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday embarked on a three-day official visit to Seychelles, reaffirming India's commitment to strengthening ties with the strategically important island nation in the Indian Ocean. The visit coincides with the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Seychelles' National Day, where Modi will participate as a special guest.

During his stay, the Prime Minister is expected to hold bilateral talks with the Seychelles leadership to further expand cooperation in key sectors, including maritime security, defence, trade, blue economy, climate resilience, healthcare, education, and digital connectivity. Several agreements aimed at enhancing development cooperation and capacity building are also likely to be discussed.

India and Seychelles share longstanding diplomatic relations, with New Delhi playing a significant role in supporting the island nation's infrastructure development, security initiatives, and human resource development. The visit is expected to reinforce India's vision of a secure and prosperous Indian Ocean Region while promoting closer collaboration under its neighbourhood and maritime outreach policies.

Modi's participation in the Golden Jubilee celebrations underscores the importance India attaches to its partnership with Seychelles. Officials believe the visit will provide fresh momentum to bilateral relations, enhance strategic cooperation, and further strengthen people-to-people ties between the two countries, while contributing to peace, stability, and sustainable development across the Indian Ocean region.
