Massive Temple Idol Theft Reported
A major theft was reported at the Sri Kamakshi Sametha Chandramouleeswara Swamy Temple in Chandrasekharapuram mandal after unidentified persons allegedly broke into the shrine and stole valuable Panchaloha idols.
According to officials, the thieves made away with Panchaloha idols of Goddess Kamakshi, Lord Shiva, and Lord Ayyappa, weighing over 100 kilograms in total. The theft came to light when the temple priest arrived in the morning to perform daily rituals and found the temple locks broken. He immediately alerted the police.
A police team, along with a forensic clues team, reached the spot and collected fingerprints and other evidence from the temple premises. Investigators have launched a detailed probe to identify those involved in the theft.
Police are also examining CCTV footage that reportedly captured the suspects during the burglary. Officials have appealed to the public to help identify the individuals seen in the surveillance footage and provide any information that could assist the investigation.
The theft of the sacred idols has shocked local devotees and residents. Police have intensified efforts to trace the stolen idols and arrest the accused at the earliest.
