Leopard Rescued Near Ananthapuram

A female leopard was safely rescued near Malapanagudi village in the Kalyandurg range of Ananthapuram after being found weak and in need of urgent medical attention. The rescue was carried out under the H.A.N.U.M.A.N Wildlife Rescue Initiative by teams of the Andhra Pradesh Forest Department.

Acting on instructions from senior forest officials, rescue personnel responded swiftly to the location and secured the animal. The leopard was transported in a Rapid Response Rescue Team (RRRT) vehicle to the Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park in Tirupati for specialised veterinary examination, treatment, and rehabilitation.

Officials said the operation was conducted with urgency to ensure the leopard received timely medical care. Forest personnel and veterinary experts worked together throughout the rescue and transportation process to stabilise the animal's condition and minimise stress.

The Forest Department stated that the successful rescue reflects its commitment to scientific wildlife management, rapid emergency response, and the humane treatment of injured wild animals. Officials also highlighted the importance of such coordinated efforts in protecting wildlife and maintaining ecological balance in forest ecosystems.

The leopard is currently under observation at the zoological park, where veterinarians are monitoring its health and providing the necessary treatment. Authorities said rehabilitation efforts will continue until the animal recovers sufficiently and further decisions are taken based on its medical condition.
