Kavitha Stands Firm on TRS Name

Former MLC K. Kavitha has firmly stated that there is no question of changing the proposed TRS party name despite objections raised by the Election Commission (EC). She said the party would continue to pursue registration under the TRS name and is prepared to take legal recourse if required.

The Election Commission recently objected to the proposed name and directed the applicants to submit three alternative names within 15 days. The poll body reportedly warned that if fresh options were not provided within the stipulated period, the party's registration application could be closed.

Responding to the EC's communication, Kavitha said there would be no compromise on the party's identity. She maintained that the organisation would continue with the TRS name and challenge the matter through legal means if necessary. According to her, the party is ready for a legal battle to protect its chosen name.

The development has triggered political discussion in Telangana, as the name TRS carries significant political recognition. The Election Commission's objections and the party's refusal to suggest alternative names could lead to a legal dispute over the registration process.

Political observers say the outcome of the issue may have wider implications for party registration norms and the use of names associated with existing or previously registered political organisations.
