Food Safety Raids Zomato Warehouse
Food Safety officials conducted a surprise inspection at the Zomato Hyperpure warehouse in Kukatpally and detected several violations of food safety standards. During the inspection, authorities seized a large quantity of expired food products stored at the facility.
Officials also found that vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items were being stored together in the same freezer, which is considered a violation of prescribed food safety and hygiene norms. The inspection team directed the management to rectify the deficiencies immediately.
As part of the inspection, samples of peanuts, pulses, cumin seeds, and ghee were collected and sent to an accredited laboratory for quality analysis. Officials said further action would be taken based on the laboratory test reports and the findings of the inspection.
The Food Safety Department issued improvement notices to the company, directing it to strengthen storage practices, maintain proper segregation of food items, and strictly comply with food safety regulations. Authorities stated that regular inspections would continue to ensure food businesses adhere to hygiene and quality standards.
The inspection forms part of the department's ongoing drive to improve food safety compliance and protect consumer health. Officials reiterated that strict action would be taken against establishments found violating food safety norms or compromising the quality of food products supplied to consumers.
