Diamond Hunt Grips Kurnool

With the onset of the monsoon, the annual diamond hunt has once again begun across several villages in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district, drawing thousands of hopeful treasure seekers from different parts of the state and neighbouring regions. Every year, the first rains are believed to wash away the top layer of soil, increasing the chances of spotting naturally occurring diamonds on the ground.

Villages such as Jonnagiri, Pagidirayi, Yerragudi, Upparlapalli, Tuggali, and Maddikera have become major destinations for people hoping to strike it rich. Many spend days and even years searching the fields, convinced that finding a single diamond could change their financial future forever.

The diamond hunting season generally lasts from June to August, when weather conditions are considered most favourable. Local residents say several people have discovered valuable diamonds in previous years, inspiring many others to test their luck every monsoon.

Despite the uncertainty of finding precious stones, the excitement surrounding the search remains high. Families, labourers, farmers, and adventure seekers can be seen combing fields and open lands in the hope of an extraordinary discovery. For many, the annual diamond hunt is more than a tradition—it represents hope, determination, and the dream of transforming their lives with a single lucky find.
