Delay in Payments Sparks Tension at Kanaka Durga Temple

Allegations of negligence and administrative delay have surfaced against Kanaka Durga Temple Executive Officer (EO) Seenanayak following a dispute over pending vendor payments linked to the Bhavani Deeksha arrangements last year.

During the Bhavani Deeksha festival in October, lakhs of devotees visited the Kanaka Durga temple. To ensure smooth arrangements, the Home Minister had directed officials to distribute milk and biscuits to pilgrims through selected vendors. The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) appointed vendors who supplied the items, raising bills worth ₹24 lakh.

However, despite repeated reminders, the EO reportedly failed to clear the bills. Even after VMC Commissioner Dhyanachandra wrote to the EO on April 29 requesting payment release, no action was taken. The district collector Lakshmisha also advised clearance, but officials at the temple reportedly insisted on procedural objections, citing lack of work orders and audit approvals.

The prolonged delay has angered vendors, who are now threatening legal action against VMC staff involved in the execution of the work. They have also expressed frustration over administrative inaction and financial stress.

Sources indicate growing dissatisfaction with EO Seenanayak’s functioning, with speculation of an impending transfer. Authorities believe that immediate settlement of dues could help ease tensions and restore confidence among vendors and departments. The situation remains unresolved.
