Basavatarakam Hospital Completes 25 Years
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital was established following a personal tragedy and has evolved into one of India’s leading non-profit cancer care institutions.
Speaking at the hospital’s Silver Jubilee celebrations in Hyderabad, Naidu recalled that the facility was inspired by the late Basavatarakam Nandamuri, who succumbed to cancer when advanced treatment facilities were limited in the region. He said the hospital was founded with the vision that no patient should lose their life due to lack of access to quality cancer treatment.
Naidu praised Trust Chairman Nandamuri Balakrishna for his continued support and welcomed plans to establish a 1,000-bed cancer hospital in Amaravati. He noted that the institution now has around 650 beds, performs thousands of surgeries annually, and serves more than three lakh patients every year.
