Ashok Gajapathi Raju Raises Land Dispute

Goa Governor Ashok Gajapathi Raju has alleged that the YSRCP district party office was constructed on land belonging to his family, accusing the previous government of illegally altering land records. Addressing a press conference, he said his family had submitted a complaint to the District Collector nearly a year ago, seeking action over the alleged encroachment.

According to Ashok Gajapathi Raju, the land was shown as government property in official records during the YSRCP regime despite being privately owned by his family. He further alleged that the party office was constructed without obtaining the necessary statutory permissions, questioning how such a project could proceed by ignoring legal procedures.

The Governor said laws cannot be bent to suit political interests and stressed that every citizen and public authority must respect the Constitution and the rule of law. Referring to criticism over his involvement in the issue, he clarified that he had resigned from his political party before assuming the constitutional office of Governor, but could not sever his relationship with his family or remain silent on matters concerning their property.

Ashok Gajapathi Raju urged the authorities to protect legal rights, uphold constitutional values, and conduct a fair examination of the land dispute. He maintained that justice should prevail through due legal process and not political influence.
