AP Tops PM SHRI Fund Utilisation

Andhra Pradesh has emerged as the top-performing state in the country in utilising funds under the PM SHRI scheme, said Education Minister Nara Lokesh during a review meeting with education officials.

The minister directed officials to provide bunk beds for 1.06 lakh girl students studying in 430 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) across the state. He also instructed that similar facilities be arranged in residential schools and colleges.

Lokesh reviewed distribution of student kits, digital education initiatives, school attendance and learning outcomes. He stressed improving performance in districts where students are facing learning challenges and ensuring attendance does not fall below 95%.

The minister also directed officials to provide “Thalliki Vandanam” scheme benefits to orphan children through proper arrangements and explore a permanent financial support system for their education.

He instructed that Telugu Academy textbooks be made available online through e-commerce platforms and called for better implementation of midday meal schemes. Officials were also asked to prepare bridge course materials for students struggling in Telugu, Maths and Science subjects.
